China wählt Ubuntu als nationales Referenzsystem

Das chinesische Ministerium für Industrie und und Informationstechnik arbeitet zusammen mit Canonical an Ubuntu Kylin, einer Variante der regulären Linux-Distribution, die chinesischen Hard- und Software-Entwicklern als Referenzsystem dienen soll. Ubuntu Kylin wird im April erscheinen, die Eingabe chinesischer Schriftzeichen und den chinesischen Kalender unterstützen und schnellen Zugang zu relevanten Musikdiensten ermöglichen. Spätere Versionen sollen Baidu Maps, Shopping bei Taobao, Zahlungsverfahren für chinesische Banken und Echtzeit-Bahn- und Fluginformationen bieten. Das Projekt findet im Rahmen eines Fünf-Jahres-Plans statt und soll die Open-Source-Entwicklung in China unterstützen. Pressebericht nach dem Break.
